Lombardy Region to Shine at Expo 2025 Osaka.

Milan: Lombardy will participate in Expo 2025 Osaka: the official confirmation came from Raffaele Cattaneo, regional undersecretary for international and European relations of Lombardy on the occasion of the opening of the new All Nippon Airways route between Milan Malpensa and Tokyo Haneda. “We are truly delighted that Lombardy will also be a protagonist at Expo,” declared Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka. “Councillor Guido Guidesi had given me a preview, but now the official confirmation, announced by the regional undersecretary for international and European relations Raffaele Cattaneo, is truly excellent news, which comes at a time when we are facing the final stages of preparations for Expo 2025 Osaka, which will open on April 13.”

According to Ansa News Agency, the presence of Italian regions at Expo 2025 Osaka is significant, with 18 out of 20 regions participating, now including Lombardy. This reflects the determination of the Italian Country System to penet
rate Asian markets, a strategic goal for the nation’s economy. The Commissariat’s decision to involve Italian regions in the Expo, by providing them with substantial space in the Italy Pavilion, aims to promote territorial excellence. This is part of a collaboration agreement signed last March with Massimiliano Fedriga, President of the Conference of Regions and autonomous provinces.

The regional council of Lombardy has approved participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, marking the next step as the organization of an institutional delegation to further solidify relations between Lombardy and Japan. With trade exchanges totaling 4.2 billion euros, Milan and Lombardy are strategic partners in the bilateral relationship with Japan, encompassing economic, industrial, and technological collaborations, as well as cultural and tourism exchanges.
