La Molisana Plans to Open Pasta Plant in USA to Counter Tariffs

Rome: The CEO of Italian pasta company La Molisana announced that the company is ready to open a factory in the United States to circumvent the substantial tariffs anticipated to be imposed on their products by the U.S.

According to Ansa News Agency, the U.S. Department of Commerce has declared its intention to enforce anti-dumping duties exceeding 91% on pasta starting in January. This is in addition to the existing 15% duties already applied.

Giuseppe Ferro, Chief Executive of La Molisana, expressed the company’s predicament, stating, “We will try to talk to the U.S. administration because it not possible for us to do business with tariffs at 107%.” The planned U.S. factory aims to mitigate the impact of these significant tariffs on their business operations.
