La Molisana Denies Plans for New Pasta Plant in United States
Rome: La Molisana pasta company on Monday denied a report that its CEO had said it was poised to open a factory in the United States in a bid to get around the huge tariffs the United States looks set to impose on their products. “La Molisana pasta factory CEO Giuseppe Ferro denies reports circulating in some media outlets alleging the company’s intention to open a plant in America,” it said.
According to Ansa News Agency, the statement was reiterated by the Italian Foreign Ministry. The Department of Commerce has announced it will impose anti-dumping duties of over 91% on pasta from January on top of the 15% duties already in place.
Ferro had been reported as saying, “We will try to talk to the U.S. administration because it not possible for us to do business with tariffs at 107%.”
