Jews Desert ANPI Event After ‘Massacre’ Remark

Pisa: Italian Jews deserted an Italian Partisans Association (ANPI) event marking the anniversary of the signing of Fascist Italy’s racial laws after the local ANPI president referred to the “massacre of a people” in Gaza.

According to Ansa News Agency, the commemoration of the signing of the racial laws, a historic event that took place on the San Rossore estate near Pisa on September 5, 1938, became controversial with the Jewish community after local ANPI president Bruno Possenti made references in his speech to Israel’s actions against the Palestinians.

Specifically, Possenti stated that “on platform 21 (in Milan in WWII, ed.), when they were deporting Jews, there was too much indifference, and even today we cannot remain indifferent to the massacre of a people.” Jewish community president Andrea Gottfried responded by labeling the remarks as “intellectually dishonest” and chose not to speak at the event.

Gottfried further declared a boycott of future events organized by the Partisans, stating, “Never again where ANPI is.”
