Italy’s Manufacturing PMI Hits Yearly Low as New Orders Decline.

Milan: Italy’s manufacturing sector experienced a significant downturn as the HCOB Italy Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) dropped to 44.5 in November, marking its lowest point in a year. This decline follows a previous reading of 46.9 in October, indicating a troubling trend for the country’s manufacturing industry.

According to Ansa News Agency, the primary factor contributing to the PMI’s drop was the substantial decrease in new orders, the largest component of the index. The backlog of orders has diminished at the fastest rate witnessed in almost a year, attributed to weak demand and heightened uncertainty in the market.

The international sales climate has also seen a decline, with new export orders decreasing at a rapid pace. This suggests that external market conditions are also contributing to the challenges faced by Italy’s manufacturing sector.
