Italy’s Commitment to Vocational Training Continues in Tunisia

Tunis: An important new stage in the Italy-Tunisia partnership in the vocational training sector was reached in Tunis with the signing of a EUR 6.5 million financing agreement for the Tunisie Professionelle programme.

According to Ansa News Agency, this was announced by the Italian Embassy in Tunis, emphasising that, ‘in the spirit of the Mattei Plan, it will be implemented in close collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.

The agreement, signed by the Italian ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Prunas, and the representative of Unido – United Nations Industrial Development Organisation in Tunisia, Lassaad Ben Hassine, in the presence of the director of the regional office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation – AICS Tunis Isabella Lucaferri, aims to strengthen the Tunisian vocational training system, making it more suited to the needs of the labour market and contributing to the economic and social development of the North African country.

Through this funding,
it is intended to promote, in particular, the updating and adaptation of training courses to ensure that the skills acquired by young Tunisians are in line with the current and future demands of companies.

Particular attention is also given to improving infrastructure and equipment in order to provide modern and functional learning environments. The programme also aims to support the skills of instructors through specific training and refresher programmes, as well as to facilitate job placement by strengthening links with the private sector.
