Italy to be Featured as Country of Honour at Madrid’s Sal³n de Gourmets


Madrid: Italy will be the ‘Country of Honour’ at the 38th edition of the ‘Sal³n de Gourmets’ in Madrid, Spain’s leading trade fair dedicated to ‘quality gastronomy’. This event, scheduled from April 7 to April 10, is a significant occasion for professionals in the food and beverage sector.



According to Ansa News Agency, the announcement of Italy’s starring role was made in a press release by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Spain (Ccis). The ‘Sal³n de Gourmets’ will be held at the Ifema exhibition space, where 100,000 local and international professionals from various segments such as restaurants, hospitality, catering, distribution, and specialised trade are expected to attend.



The Ccis highlights that the ‘Area Italia’, the exhibition space reserved for Italy, will feature 20 Italian companies. Spread over an area of more than 350 square metres, these stands will showcase a variety of products, including dry and fresh pasta, wines, truffle-based foods, coffee, liqueurs, cheeses, cold cuts, sauces, preserves, and baked goods.



Italy currently ranks as the sixth largest supplier of agri-food and beverage products to Spain, with a sales volume of more than EUR 2.9 billion in 2024. This reflects an annual growth of 8% and a notable increase of more than 77% over five years.
