Torre del Greco Corals to Highlight Made in Italy Day in Madrid
Madrid: The Italian Embassy in Madrid is set to celebrate Made in Italy Day 2025 on April 7, with a special event titled ‘Precious links: corals and cameos from Torre del Greco meet Madrid’. This event is organized in collaboration with the Italian Association of Coral and Cameo Manufacturers (Assocoral).
According to Ansa News Agency, this year’s focus is on Italian craftsmanship, specifically emphasizing the world of fashion and jewellery. The presence of Made in Italy products in Spain is significant and well-structured, highlighting the strong trade relations between the two nations. Istat data for 2024 shows a record level of Italian exports to Spain, amounting to over 34.5 billion euros, marking a 4.3% increase. This positions the Spanish market as the fourth largest globally for Italian goods, with the highest growth among the top five customer countries.
This upward trend in trade is not isolated but is part of a decade-long consolidation process. This process has fostered integration and complementarity between the Italian and Spanish markets, bolstered by substantial bilateral investments. The Bank of Italy’s 2023 data indicates that Spain ranks as the second-largest holder of Italian foreign direct investment (FDI) abroad, while also being the seventh-largest foreign investor in Italy. This mutual investment promotes continuous intra-company flows between businesses with operations in both countries.
Additionally, the services sector significantly supports Made in Italy, with Italy exporting 5.5 billion euros worth of services to Spain in 2024. These exports primarily comprise tourism, followed by business, transport, and telecommunication services. The entrepreneurial landscape in both countries, characterized by small and medium-sized enterprises, along with geographical and cultural proximity, high levels of reciprocal investments, and synergies towards Latin America, further strengthens the economic partnership. Spain’s stable economic foundation in recent years underscores its importance as a key economic and commercial partner for Italy.
