Italy Sees Significant Job Growth Over Four Years

Rome: Italy has experienced a significant increase in employment, with nearly two million more jobs than it had four years ago.

According to Ansa News Agency, the National Institute for Social Security (INPS) reported on Thursday that between June 2021 and June 2025, there were 1,937,044 more job contracts initiated than terminated.

INPS highlighted that the positive balance for permanent, open-ended contracts was 1,287,973. The agency noted that the most substantial job growth was seen in the accommodation and catering sector, which saw an increase of 481,714 jobs, including 160,326 permanent positions. Additionally, the retail sector added 260,723 jobs, while the construction industry saw a growth of 286,150 jobs.

Furthermore, INPS stated that in the first half of 2025 alone, 4,252,592 new labor contracts were activated, while 3,315,548 contracts were terminated, resulting in a net gain of 937,044 jobs. During this period, there was also a net increase of 256,584 permanent jobs.
