Brussels: Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti is set to present to his EU colleagues at Ecofin in Brussels Monday Italy’s proposal for a European Initiative for Security and Industrial Innovation’ to mobilize private investments in strategic sectors of defense, security and protection without increasing public debt, sources at the Ministry of Economy and Finance said.

The proposal aims to mobilize around 200 billion in private investments over the next 3-5 years. This would be achieved using a public guarantee of 16.7 billion euros.

The initiative seeks to address the need for investment in critical sectors while maintaining financial stability. By leveraging EU guarantees, the proposal aims to stimulate private sector engagement in areas deemed essential for the bloc’s security and industrial innovation.
