Italy Poised for Key Role in Gaza Reconstruction and Peacekeeping
Rome: Italy is prepared to take a leading role in the reconstruction of Gaza and in peacekeeping activities following the ceasefire and prisoner-hostage exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced. Tajani emphasized Italy’s commitment to supporting the peace process in the region.
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani expressed optimism about the developments in the Middle East, noting that peace appears to be within reach. He reiterated Italy’s longstanding support for the US peace plan and affirmed the country’s readiness to contribute to the consolidation of the ceasefire by providing humanitarian aid and participating in the reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
Tajani further stated Italy’s willingness to deploy troops should an international peacekeeping force be established to help reunify Palestine. His comments were made public through a post on his X account, underscoring Italy’s proactive stance in fostering long-term stability and peace in the region.
