Italy Declines Participation in Potential Military Force for Ukraine Ceasefire


Rome: Italy won’t participate in any possible military force to police a future ceasefire in Ukraine, Premier Giorgia Meloni’s office at Palazzo Chigi stated following a government summit ahead of Thursday’s coalition of the willing meeting in Paris.



According to Ansa News Agency, the meeting “allowed us to reiterate that no national participation is foreseen in any possible military force on the ground,” as per a note from Palazzo Chigi after the meeting convened by Meloni in preparation for her participation in the Summit on Peace and Security of Ukraine scheduled for Thursday afternoon in Paris.



The meeting included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani (via video link), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, and Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto.
