Italian Unemployment Rate Falls to 6.3% in June
Rome: Italy’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.3% in June, marking a decrease of 0.3 percentage points compared to May, according to provisional data released by Istat on Thursday.
According to Ansa News Agency, the national statistics agency reported that the number of unemployed individuals stood at 1.621 million, reflecting a reduction of 71,000 compared to May and a decrease of 94,000 compared to June 2024. The data also indicated a significant decline in the unemployment rate for those under 25 who are active in the labor market, with a decrease of 1.4 points to 20.1%.
Istat also highlighted that the number of people employed in June reached 24.326 million, an increase of 16,000 from May and an impressive rise of 363,000 in year-on-year terms. Despite the fluctuations in unemployment, the employment rate remained stable at 62.9%.
