Italian Inflation Holds Steady at 1.7% in July

Rome: Italy’s annual inflation rate was stable at 1.7% in July, according to provisional data released by Istat on Thursday. The national statistics agency reported that its consumer-price index increased by 0.4% in month-on-month terms.

According to Ansa News Agency, Istat indicated that its shopping trolley index, which tracks the prices of food and household and personal care goods, rose by 3.4% in July compared to 2.8% in June. Core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, remained at 2.0% in July, unchanged from June. Meanwhile, inflation excluding energy increased to 2.2%, up slightly from 2.1% in the previous month.
