Italian Language Week Celebrated in Tanzania with Cultural Events
Dar es salaam: The Embassy of Italy in Tanzania marked the 25th edition of Italian Language Week in the World with a series of events in Dar Es Salaam. The celebrations were aimed at promoting Italian language and culture through various cultural activities and performances.
According to Ansa News Agency, the highlight of the event was a theatrical performance titled “Found in Translation – The Treasure of Italian and Swahili Languages” at the National Museum and House of Culture. The performance, by author Freddie del Curatolo and Tanzanian artists including singer and actress Fatuma Rajabu Mpendu, captivated the audience. The event also featured an award ceremony by Ambassador Giuseppe Coppola for the winners of the “Italy with my eyes” drawing contest, organized by the Dante Alighieri Committee of Dar es Salaam.
In collaboration with Rai Com, the Embassy also organized film screenings at the Little Theatre in Dar es Salaam on October 14 and 16. The featured films were “Zamora” by Neri Marcor¨ and “Enrico Piaggio – An Italian Dream” by Umberto Marino. These events demonstrated the strong interest in Italian language and culture among the Tanzanian audience.
