Italian Antonio Filosa Appointed as New Stellantis CEO

Paris: Stellantis announced on Wednesday that Antonio Filosa, an experienced Italian manager, has been “unanimously selected” by the board as its new CEO. The position had been unoccupied since Carlos Tavares stepped down in December.

According to Ansa News Agency, Filosa previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer for the Americas at Stellantis. The company, which manages a portfolio of brands including Jeep, Peugeot, Fiat, Lancia, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, and Chrysler, stated that Filosa was chosen “following a thorough search process of internal and external candidates.”

The board’s decision was influenced by Filosa’s “proven track record of hands-on success during his more than 25 years in the automotive industry,” along with his extensive global experience, deep understanding of the company, and recognized leadership qualities, according to a company statement. John Elkann will maintain his role as chairman of the board.

Stellantis has been navigating challenges such as declining sales. Last
month, the company announced the suspension of its 2025 earnings forecast due to uncertainties related to US tariffs. This came as the company reported a 14% decline in first-quarter revenue, totaling 35.8 billion euros.
