Israeli Attacks in Northern Gaza Kill Eight, Target Indonesian Hospital

GAZA CITY: At least eight individuals were killed and several others injured following Israeli military assaults on northern Gaza, according to reports from Palestinian sources on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, an Israeli airstrike on a home in the Tuba area of the Jabalia refugee camp claimed the lives of four people and injured over 15 others. In a separate incident, the Palestinian civil defense confirmed that two more Palestinians died and seven were injured following an attack on a home belonging to the Saeedi family, also in Jabalia.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza reported that Israeli artillery targeted the upper floors of the Indonesian Hospital, where over 40 patients, including injured individuals and medical staff, were present. The hospital, now without electricity, faces worsening conditions, particularly affecting patients reliant on oxygen machines. spital told Anadolu.

Marwan Sultan, the hospital’s director, highlighted the critical situation, noting that at least 30 patients suffered injuries, with 10 urgently requiring oxygen support. Sultan emphasized the potential risk to their lives if the power outage persists. Witnesses reported artillery fire affecting a group of displaced civilians gathered outside the hospital gates, resulting in additional casualties.

The Indonesian Hospital is currently encircled by Israeli forces, who have besieged shelters housing thousands of displaced civilians in the vicinity. Additionally, the al-Awda Hospital in the Tel al-Zaatar area of Jabalia was struck by Israeli artillery shortly after the attack on the Indonesian Hospital. In a related development, the Palestinian Telecommunications Company announced disruptions in internet services in northern Gaza.

In the past two weeks, the Gaza civil defense reported over 400 Palestinian deaths, including children, women, and the elderly, in northern Gaza. “The Israeli fo
rces continue to impose a siege, starving and massacring civilians under extremely harsh humanitarian conditions,” spokesperson Mahmoud Basal stated. Basal also highlighted that Israel’s disruption of communication and internet services has significantly hindered emergency response efforts. The civil defense has reached out to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs for assistance in facilitating safe passage for rescue operations.

Israel’s military actions have resulted in over 42,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza since a cross-border incursion by Hamas. Notably, the group’s leader, Yahya Sinwar, was killed earlier this week after assuming leadership following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31.
