Gaza Conflict Results in Vast Destruction of Olive Trees, Says Report

GAZA CITY: A recent report has highlighted the severe impact of the ongoing Israeli military operations on Gaza’s olive sector, revealing that over 75% of olive trees in the region have been destroyed.

According to Anadolu Agency, the report was published by the National Office for the Defense of Land and Resistance to Settlement, part of the Palestine Liberation Organization. It details the extensive damage inflicted on Gaza’s olive orchards amid continued Israeli air and ground attacks following a Hamas-led cross-border incursion in October. The destruction of such a significant portion of olive trees underscores the broader agricultural and economic impacts of the conflict.

The report notes that Gazan farmers could only access their fields during a brief cease-fire in November, which lasted a week. This temporary reprieve allowed them to harvest olives from areas that had not yet been devastated by Israeli military actions.
