Israel Urged to Halt Offensive in Gaza: Tajani Declares Victory Over Hamas

Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has called on Israel to end its military actions in Gaza, asserting that the conflict against Hamas, ignited by the October 7 attacks, has reached its conclusion. “We are friends of Israel but we say ‘enough war now’, it is time for a truce,” Tajani expressed during an interview with Sky television.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani emphasized that while Israel has achieved victory over Hamas, the ongoing conflict is causing immense suffering to the civilian population in Gaza. He stated, “Hamas’s trap dragged Israel into a war that the civilian population is paying for.” Tajani further criticized Hamas, accusing it of bearing significant responsibility for the plight of its people, whom he claims are being used as human shields.

Tajani also highlighted the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law, urging Israel to recognize its obligations in this regard. His statements come amid growing international concern over the humanitarian
impact of the conflict on Gaza’s residents.
