Interni Magazine Celebrates Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka


Paris: Interni, the Mondadori magazine known for its coverage of design and architecture, has launched 2025 with a special edition focused on the cultural connections between Italy and Japan. This “Italy-Japan” edition dedicates 40 pages to the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, and is now available in both Italian and English on newsstands and via app.



According to Ansa News Agency, the magazine will be officially presented in Paris on Friday. Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, emphasized the significance of this editorial choice by Interni and Editor-in-chief Gilda Bojardi. He noted that this highlights Italian design and craftsmanship’s vital role in the economic framework. Vattani also mentioned events like Milan Design Week that draw global attention from media, companies, and enthusiasts.



The Expo inauguration will coincide with the Salone del Mobile in Milan, featuring a live video link for the Made in Italy Day celebrations. The Italian Pavilion will host the special edition awards ceremony of the international Compasso d’Oro prize in September, celebrating Italian creativity and technology.



The special edition of Interni includes contributions from prominent figures like Gianluigi Benedetti, Italian Ambassador to Tokyo, who introduces the Italy Pavilion’s story. Commissioner General Mario Vattani contributes an extract from his essay “Svelare il Giappone,” while architect Mario Cucinella discusses the pavilion’s architectural concept. Professor Rossella Menegazzo writes about the artisan intelligence that has made Italian craftsmanship renowned worldwide.



Journalist and writer Stefania Viti, Communications Manager for Italy at Expo, explores food as a philosophical link between Italy and Japan. The issue also highlights contemporary Italian cultural figures like Jago, Francesca Leone, and Oriana Persico, who will showcase their works in Osaka.



The magazine also introduces the Ambassadors of the Italian Pavilion, Japanese personalities who have strong ties with Italy and will collaborate to strengthen bonds between the nations. These include fashion designer Junko Koshino, industrial designer Ken Okuyama, and others. Monsignor Rino Fisichella’s contribution underscores the Holy See’s presence in the Italy Pavilion for the first time in Expo history, emphasizing its profound significance.



This edition of Interni underscores the importance of creative and design industries as core elements of Italy’s identity. It offers a preview of the values and content that will represent Italy at Expo 2025 on a global stage.
