New Thermal Bath Complex Uncovered at Pompeii

Pompeii: The Pompeii archaeological site announced the discovery of a large thermal bath complex in the ancient Roman city, which was buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The remarkable find was made during excavations at a private townhouse, or domus, located in block (insula) 10 of the Regio IX area of Pompeii.

According to Ansa News Agency, experts have identified the complex as one of the largest and most sophisticated thermal baths ever discovered in a Pompeian domus. This impressive structure is connected to a banquet hall, suggesting it played a significant role in the social and cultural activities of its time. Other similar examples of thermal baths in Pompeii include those found at the House of Julia Felix, the House of the Labyrinth, and the Villa of Diomedes.
