Inter Milan’s Josep Martinez Involved in Fatal Accident

Rome: Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martinez was involved in a tragic incident where his vehicle struck and killed an 81-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair on Tuesday in the town of Fenegr², located in the province of Como. The accident occurred on provincial highway 32, adding a somber note to the area.

According to Ansa News Agency, Inter Milan responded by canceling coach Cristian Chivu’s press conference scheduled for Wednesday ahead of their Serie A match against Fiorentina. This decision was made as a sign of respect for the deceased and the gravity of the situation.

Martinez, a 27-year-old Spanish player, serves as the backup to Inter’s primary goalkeeper, Yann Sommer. He transferred to Inter from Genoa last year and has since been working to establish himself within the team. Martinez made his debut for Inter in December, achieving a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory over Udinese in an Italian Cup match.

The incident has undoubtedly cast a shadow over the club and raised concerns over road safety in the area. The Inter community and fans are left in mourning as they come to terms with the unfortunate event.
