Budapest: The nanny service is playing a pivotal role in strengthening Hungarian family policy, according to Bence Rétvári, the parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of the Interior and vice president of KDNP. Speaking in Budapest at the presentation of the film “A véðnoi szolgált Hungarikum,” Rétvári emphasized the importance of bolstering this service to support the nation’s family-centric initiatives.
According to KDNP, Rétvári highlighted the decreasing birth rates across the European Union, with many countries opting to address this issue through immigration. However, Hungary is focusing on its own citizens to achieve success. Since 2010, the country has surpassed 21 European nations in total fertility rates and the willingness of its citizens to have children.
Zsófia Koncz, the State Secretary responsible for families at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, noted that families currently have around 30 different measures to choose from for support. She emphasized that families are central to
the new economic action plan, which includes considerations such as doubling the family tax allowance.
Koncz also underscored the historical significance of the nanny service, which began 109 years ago, as evidence of the Hungarian people’s commitment to family-centric thinking. Tnde Forész, president of KINCS, stated that her organization has collaborated with MVSZSZ since 2020 on various projects and research initiatives. Their latest survey indicates that Hungarians recognize and appreciate the work of custodians.
Marianna Várfalvi, president of the Professional Association of Hungarian Guardian Women, added that the documentary provides an overview of the formation, history, and current activities of the guardian service.
