NAGYKANIZSA: The support and inspiration received from local communities can be crucial on the path to success for talented young people, so it is extremely important that they also receive the necessary help in their immediate environment, as the success of young people is the success of the nation – emphasized Veronika Varga-Bajusz, Ministry of Innovation and Culture State Secretary responsible for higher education, vocational and adult training, and youth, KDNP politician, in the ministry’s statement on Monday.
According to KDNP, the National Talent Program (NTP) traditionally draws attention to the importance of local talent support in November. This year, Nagykanizsa is in the center of attention as a municipality awarded with the Talent-Friendly Self-Government Award, thanks to the programs of the NTP, the city can pay special attention to the support of talented young people, their mentors, and the local communities, they wrote.
In 2024, NTP will direct the spotlight on the importance of local talent
management for the fifth time. This year, the focus of the active social media campaign, the interviews appearing in the national media, and the presentation of the talented young people is the town of Nagykanizsa and its talents, as well as the short film made with them.
Similar to Nagykanizsa, many settlements help their talented young people with various scholarships and awards, and support the development of talents by creating active professional communities. The aim of the NTP local talent support month is to introduce the supporting background of the settlements, they wrote.
It is good to be a talented young person in the city of Zala, as Nagykanizsa received the prestigious Talent-Friendly Self-Government Award in 2023. Due to the diversity of the city’s communities and the outstanding talent management work, it will be in the center of attention this November.
They added: the outstanding results of the talents of Nagykanizsa clearly show that the work invested in talent management can become a rea
l success story, and the support and attention provided locally play a significant role in this. NTP grants also contribute to the city providing professional support and opportunities for talented young people.
Art education is outstanding in the city, the Orff Percussion Ensemble of Ferenc Ferenc Music and Aranymetszés Elementary Art School and the Szikrák Dance Ensemble have been returning home with prestigious awards from various competitions for years. Special attention is paid to sports, especially chess, the talents of the Tuxera Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Chess Club can claim significant domestic and international results.
The support of talents cannot be started early enough, which is why the city pays attention to arousing children’s scientific interest from preschool age. In the Miklósfai Member Kindergarten of the Nagykanizsa Central Kindergarten, which operates as an accredited excellent talent center, children carry out science experiments and develop their digital competence, robotics, for examp
le, has been present in the educational practice of the institution for many years.
The ambassadors of this year’s campaign of the program believe in embracing talents and that science, arts, and sports are indispensable for the development of the country. This year, NTP was supported by Bagossy Brothers Company, Illés Fanni, Paralympic swimmer, world and European champion, and astrophysicist Ágnes Kis-Tóth.
Every year, the NTP reaches 300-350 thousand young Hungarians in Hungary and abroad, either directly or indirectly through the supported organizations and programs. Since the start of the NTP, decisions have been made to support approximately 20,000 projects, amounting to more than HUF 37 billion.
The funds available in the domestic budget are based on one percent tax offers, but the amount has been supplemented by the government every year since 2015. During the tax declaration, anyone can declare that they offer the second one percent of their tax to the National Talent Program, thereby embracing and
supporting talented Hungarian youth.
