Holocaust Tragedy Operated by Nazis with Fascist Accomplices Says Meloni

Rome: Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said anti-Semitism was not defeated when the gates of Auschwitz were torn down, announcing a national strategy to fight the phenomenon in a message on Monday to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp.

According to Ansa News Agency, the plan conducted by Nazi Germany found the complicity of the Fascist regime in Italy, the premier said in the message. Anti-Semitism “is a plague that survived the Holocaust, it took different forms, and spreads through new tools and channels.” The premier emphasized that fighting anti-Semitism, in all its forms, is a priority of her government.

Meloni further outlined a commitment to promote this priority with strength and determination through the development of a new national strategy to combat anti-Semitism. She described it as an articulated document setting objectives and concrete actions to counter what she termed a “vile phenomenon” that should not exist in society.

Reflecting on history, Meloni remarked on the horror of the Holocaust that was revealed to the world 80 years ago. She recounted how, in January 1945, the gates of Auschwitz were torn down, exposing the Nazi plan to persecute and exterminate the Jewish people. The plan’s premeditated ferocity, executed by Hitler’s regime with the complicity of Italy’s Fascist regime, was marked by racial laws and involvement in roundups and deportations.

Meloni’s message serves as a stark reminder of the past and a call to action to prevent such atrocities from reoccurring, ensuring that anti-Semitism is thoroughly addressed and eradicated in modern society.
