Golf: Fanali Comes Second in Australia
Wollongong: Italy’s Alessandra Fanali secured a second-place finish at the Ford Women’s New South Wales Open, which concluded on Sunday. The tournament was won by Englishwoman Mimi Rhodes, who achieved a score of 267 (68, 62, 68, 69, -17) shots.
According to Ansa News Agency, Fanali was in contention for the title until the final hole, where a missed fairway drive led to a penalty and a bogey, dashing her hopes of securing her first career victory on the Ladies European Tour. Fanali completed the tournament with a total score of 269 (69, 66, 64, 70, -15), tying with Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley for second place.
Fanali, who also finished as a runner-up in the 2024 Kenya Ladies Open and participated in the Paris Olympics last year, made three birdies and two bogeys in the final round, ending with a score of 70 (-1). Meanwhile, Anna Zanusso ranked 22nd with a score of 279 (73, 67, 70, 69, -5).
