Ferrari Acknowledges Mistakes After Cars Disqualified from China Grand Prix

Shanghai: Ferrari announced on Sunday, following the disqualification of its vehicles from the China Grand Prix, that the team did not intend to gain a competitive edge and is committed to learning from its errors.

According to Ansa News Agency, Ferrari issued a statement after the disqualifications of both drivers from the Maranello team. The disqualification came at the end of an arduous Chinese GP, where Charles Leclerc initially finished fifth and Lewis Hamilton sixth. The team emphasized that there was no intention to exploit any advantage and expressed its commitment to avoiding similar mistakes in the future.

The disqualifications were the result of FIA post-race checks, which revealed non-compliance with regulations for different reasons. The statement specified that Car 16 was found to be 1kg underweight, while the rear skid wear of Car 44 was 0.5mm below the limit. Leclerc’s one-stop strategy led to significant tire wear, causing his car to be underweight.

In the case of Hamilton’s skid wear, Ferrari admitted to a minor miscalculation in consumption. The team expressed regret over the outcome of the Chinese GP weekend, acknowledging the disappointment felt by both the team and its supporters.
