Gaza Death Toll Rises Above 42,900 Amid Unabated Israeli Offensive

GAZA CITY: The Gaza Health Ministry reported a grim escalation in casualties as at least 77 more Palestinians were killed over the past two days in unrelenting Israeli attacks, bringing the death toll to 42,924 since the offensive began last year. The ongoing assault has also left over 100,833 people injured, intensifying a humanitarian crisis in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Health Ministry in Gaza described the situation as dire, citing seven massacres of families in the last 48 hours alone, resulting in 77 fatalities and 289 injuries. The ministry highlighted the precarious conditions as many individuals remain trapped under debris, with rescue operations hindered by continued hostilities.

The Israeli military action persists despite a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7, 2023. The conflict has caused widespread displacement within Gaza, exacerbating shortages of essential resources, i
ncluding food, clean water, and medicine, due to an ongoing blockade.

The international legal landscape is also evolving, as Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its actions in Gaza. The relentless conflict continues to draw international scrutiny and concern over the humanitarian impact on the besieged territory.
