Framework Needed for Independent Palestine – Sisi-Meloni
Sharm el-sheikh: Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of the Gaza peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh Monday, and the Egyptian leader told her a framework was needed for an independent Palestine, the presidency said.
According to Ansa News Agency, Sisi emphasized the significance of a ceasefire agreement, which is the result of two years of efforts by Egypt, in partnership with Qatar and the United States, aimed at resolving the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian president highlighted the agreement’s role in halting the ongoing conflict, increasing humanitarian aid, freeing hostages and prisoners, and promoting the rapid reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Sisi reiterated the necessity of establishing a political framework that would eventually lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state, aligning with international legal resolutions. This framework is considered vital for achieving long-term peace and stability in the region.
