FM: Cooperation Is Expected to Tighten Between Hungarian and African Olympic Movements

Budapest: Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, announced that cooperation is expected to tighten between the Hungarian and African Olympic movements in the future, emphasizing the partnership’s foundation on mutual respect.

According to About Hungary, Minister Szijjártó highlighted Africa’s rapidly increasing role not only in global politics and the global economy but also in global sports. Following talks with Mustapha Berraf, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), Szijjártó pointed out that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will soon have its first African president, and infrastructure developments are advancing swiftly in Africa. The upcoming Summer Youth Olympics set to be held there further underscores this progress.

Minister Szijjártó also revealed that Hungary will sign two significant agreements with ANOCA. One agreement involves conducting sports diplomacy training for African sports leaders at the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy. The
other agreement will provide scholarships for young African athletes to study at Hungarian universities.
