Italian Gas Prices Exceed Eurozone Average by 5% – Arera
Rome: The average price of gas for domestic consumers in Italy increased by 15.1% in 2024, reaching 13.1 euro cents per kWh, as reported by the public energy authority Arera.
According to Ansa News Agency, Italy’s gas bills were 5.3% higher than the eurozone average. Despite Italy being among the countries to experience significant drops in gross electricity prices for domestic customers-down from 38.64 to 35.7 euro cents per kWh-the potential savings were offset by additional charges and taxes.
The report highlighted that the differential between Italy’s electricity prices and the EU average decreased to 15% from 24.7% in 2023. However, the final net prices paid by Italian households remained 14% higher than the eurozone average, at 25.92 cents per kWh compared to 22.73 cents.
