Easter Egg Prices Up by a Third
Rome: The prices of Italian Easter eggs have increased by at least 30% this year amid a surge in world cocoa prices and the ongoing butter crisis, consumer group CODACONS reported Saturday. The price of novelty eggs for children has risen by 33%, and high-range top-quality chocolate eggs cost up to 40% more this year.
According to Ansa News Agency, Italy’s traditional colomba or Easter dove of peace cakes are experiencing price hikes of around 22% due to the butter price surge. The rising cost of these Easter staples highlights the impact of global commodity fluctuations on local markets.
