Draft Government Motion Proposes UN Peacekeeping Force in Ukraine

Rome: A draft government motion unveiled Tuesday called for a multinational United Nations peacekeeping force in Ukraine once a peace deal is obtained. The proposal outlines a strategic framework to ensure stability and peace in the region following the cessation of hostilities between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

According to Ansa News Agency, the centre-right political faction filed a motion focusing on European rearmament and extending support to Ukraine. This motion is set to be voted on next week alongside other proposals submitted by the opposition parties.

The six-point draft motion emphasizes the government’s commitment to “foster, following the truce and the signing of a peace agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the creation of a multinational force under the aegis of the United Nations.” This initiative would be contingent upon a resolution from the UN Security Council and aims to guarantee a stable, shared, and irreversible peace process in the region.
