Don’t Kill Indiscriminately – Herzog Tells Mattarella

Rome: Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Friday responded to remarks made by Italian President Sergio Mattarella regarding the ongoing situation in Gaza. Herzog addressed Mattarella’s comments, which criticized Israeli military actions in Gaza for causing civilian casualties.

According to Ansa News Agency, Mattarella stated on Wednesday that it was challenging to view the repeated mistakes in the Israeli strikes as anything other than a deliberate intent to harm civilians. This prompted Herzog to clarify Israel’s position publicly.

In a detailed post on the social media platform X, Herzog expressed his respect for Mattarella, acknowledging their friendship but expressing disappointment with the recent statements from the Italian President. Herzog strongly refuted the claims of indiscriminate killing, emphasizing that Israel’s actions are not driven by such intentions.

Herzog reiterated Israel’s desire for peace and security, stating, “We just want to live in peace and security.” He stressed that the portrayal of Israel’s military actions as indiscriminate was inaccurate and did not reflect Israel’s true objectives.
