Padua: A centre-left Democratic Party (PD) councillor in Padua has come under fire for opting to display rainbow ribbons outside her home to announce the birth of her son, deviating from the traditional sky blue.

According to Ansa News Agency, the councillor, Margherita Colonnello, faced significant backlash on social media, where she was met with a torrent of criticism. Colonnello attributed the negative response to “keyboard warriors” who misconstrued her statements made during a recent Pride event.

At the Pride event, Colonnello expressed her intention to allow her child the freedom to choose the color that best represents him in the future, a sentiment that has apparently fueled the controversy surrounding her decision.
