Buonfiglio Elected Italian Olympic Committee President

Rome: Luciano Buonfiglio, the head of the Italian Canoeing and Kayaking Federation (FICK), was elected the new president of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI). He succeeds Giovanni Malag², who had been in charge of Italian sport’s governing body since 2013.

According to Ansa News Agency, Buonfiglio prevailed in the first round of voting, receiving the support of 47 out of the 81 delegates participating. His main rival, Luca Pancalli, the president of the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP), garnered 34 votes.
