Tension Erupts at Anti-Bezos Protest in Venice St Mark’s Square

Venice: There were moments of tension on Thursday during a protest in Venice’s St Mark’s Square against Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his huge wedding in the city.

According to Ansa News Agency, a group of around 20 people stood in front of St Mark’s Basilica displaying placards with banknotes and slogans against the American billionaire and in favour of peace in Gaza. The protest escalated when two people dressed as a bride and groom stood on a pedestal in a mock wedding. Additionally, a young man and woman attempted to climb the flagpoles in front of the basilica.

Law enforcement intervened, but the protestors attempted passive resistance by lying on the ground when police moved to take them to a station for identification.
