Basketball: Italy, Bologna Player Polonara Diagnosed with Leukemia

Bologna: Italy and Virtus Bologna basketball player Achille Polonara has leukemia, the club announced Monday. Virtus Bologna confirmed that the 33-year-old power forward from Ancona in Marche is undergoing treatment for mieloid leukemia at Bologna’s Sant’Orsola Malpighi Hospital.

According to Ansa News Agency, Polonara has a history of health challenges, having previously undergone surgery for a tumor. The club expressed its support for Polonara, stating, “The whole Virtus Segafredo Bologna family is close to Achille and his loved ones and wishes the boy a speedy recovery. Forza Achi, we are all with you, we are waiting for you!”
