Gasperini Confirms He Turned Down Juve, Says Roma Right Fit For Him
Rome: Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed that he turned down the chance to take over Juventus before signing the contract to become AS Roma’s new coach during his presentation as the Rome club’s boss on Tuesday.
According to Ansa News Agency, Gasperini revealed to reporters at a press conference that despite the opportunity to join Juventus, he felt that Roma was the right path for him. He acknowledged the risks associated with the move but expressed confidence in his decision, stating that his style of playing football and ability to make an impact aligned well with Roma.
Gasperini shared that the first person he discussed the move with was his predecessor, Claudio Ranieri, who has now assumed an executive role at the club. He also highlighted his admiration for the ambition and investment willingness of Roma’s American owners, the Friedkin family.
