Average Salaries for Women 20% Lower Than Men, Reports INPS

Rome: Average salaries for women in Italy are 20% lower than men’s, according to social security and pensions agency INPS in its latest gender gap report.

According to Ansa News Agency, INPS highlighted that in Italy, the employment rate for women is almost 18 percentage points lower than that of men. Furthermore, when employed, women earn an average daily salary that is approximately 20% less than their male counterparts. The report attributes this disparity to several factors, including a higher tendency for women to engage in part-time work, lower qualification levels, and reduced usage of overtime.

Despite women being, on average, more educated, they face significant challenges in career advancement. The report notes that only 21% of top managerial positions and 32.4% of middle management roles are occupied by women.
