Alpine Skiing: Brignone Closes in on Overall World Cup Title
La Thuile: Italy’s Federica Brignone moved closer to this season’s overall World Cup title by coming third in the women’s Super-G in La Thuile on Thursday. As a result, she has extended her lead over her rival Lara Gut Behrami of Switzerland to 332 points. Gut Behrami was fourth after the first 20 competitors had completed their runs.
According to Ansa News Agency, German Emma Aicher was leading at the time of writing, while Italy’s Sofia Goggia was in second place. The competition remains intense as another Super-G is scheduled on Friday at La Thuile’s Berthod piste. Following this event, the season will conclude with four final races in Beaver Creek, United States, where 400 points will be available.
