ReArm Europe Plan: League Advocates for Exclusive Italian Procurement

Rome: The ruling rightwing League party announced on Thursday that under the newly proposed ReArm Europe plan, Italy should prioritize procurement exclusively from Italian firms. The party emphasized that the European Union should afford the Mediterranean region the same level of attention it currently gives to its eastern borders.

According to Ansa News Agency, this position was solidified during discussions involving League leader and Deputy Premier Matteo Salvini, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, and other senior party members. The talks were centered on evaluating investments in the defense sector.

The League stressed that all investment and defense strategies should not exacerbate Italy’s national debt, which is the second highest in the eurozone, following Greece’s.
