Albanese’s Report on Italy’s Role in Gaza Genocide Lacks Credibility, Says Rome
New york: A report by the United Nations Palestinian special rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, has come under fire from Italy’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Maurizio Massari. The report lists Italy among 63 countries allegedly complicit with Israeli actions described as “genocide” in Gaza.
According to Ansa News Agency, Ambassador Massari criticized the report, claiming it lacks both credibility and impartiality. He stated, “The report presented by Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese is totally lacking in credibility and impartiality.” Massari expressed no surprise at the report’s findings and emphasized that its content goes beyond the special rapporteur’s specific mandate.
Massari further highlighted that the mandate of the Special Rapporteur does not cover investigations into alleged violations by other states or assessments of cooperation between third countries and the International Criminal Court (ICC). The Italian envoy’s remarks suggest a strong denial of the allegations made in Albanese’s report.
