Rome: Around 38% of the adult Italian population committed at least one act of audio-video piracy in 2024, enjoying films, TV series and shows, music, and live sporting events through illegal channels, a report said on Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the study by Ipsos and the audio-video-and-multimedia-industry federation Fapav highlighted that approximately 295 million acts of piracy of this kind were committed last year. This widespread illegal activity cost the Italian economy about two billion euros and put approximately 12,100 jobs at risk.
