33 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Homes in Northern Gaza

GAZA CITY: At least 33 Palestinians were killed and 85 others injured on Friday night as Israeli airstrikes targeted homes in the northern Gaza Strip, according to local authorities.

According to Anadolu Agency, Mohammad Salha, director of Al-Awda Hospital, reported that the airstrikes were concentrated on the Tel al-Zaatar area, east of the Jabalia refugee camp. Salha highlighted that there are still individuals missing beneath the rubble, and ambulances are facing difficulties in reaching the affected area due to fears of being targeted by the Israeli military.

The local authorities in Gaza stated that among the deceased were 21 women, and the death toll is expected to increase given the poor health services available in northern Gaza, which have been further strained by the ongoing Israeli siege and attacks. This latest escalation marks the 14th consecutive day of the Israeli army’s offensive in the region, with a particular focus on the Jabalia area and its refugee camp.

ia, is experiencing an intense siege and continuous bombardment, resulting in the destruction of homes with their residents inside. This incident marks the third ground operation conducted by the Israeli army in the Jabalia camp since the conflict began on October 7, 2023.

The Israeli offensive on Gaza persists despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7 of the previous year. Since then, more than 42,500 people have reportedly been killed, most of whom are women and children, and over 99,500 have been injured, according to local health authorities.

The relentless onslaught has displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza amid an ongoing blockade leading to critical shortages of food, clean water, and medicine. Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
