100 Days Until Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics Begin

Milan: The final straight to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics has started with the Games hitting the 100-days-to-go mark on Wednesday. The Games are set to commence on February 6 with the opening ceremony at Milan’s iconic San Siro Stadium and will conclude with the closing ceremony at the Verona Arena on February 22.

According to Ansa News Agency, Andrea Varnier, the CEO of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, expressed confidence that the organizers are on track to be ready for the Games. Despite acknowledging some challenges with project timelines, Varnier assured that deadlines are being met.

The event schedule includes Milan as the host for ice-sport events, alpine skiing races to take place in Bormio and Cortina, biathlon events in Trentino’s Anterselva, and Nordic skiing and ski jumping in Val di Fiemme. Additionally, the Lombard town of Livigno, located near the Swiss border, will host snowboarding and freestyle skiing competitions.

Most of the Olympic events will utilize existing facilities. Only two structures are being constructed from the ground up: the bobsleigh run at Cortina for sliding events and the Santa Giulia arena in Milan for ice hockey matches.
