Zelensky Confident U.S. Will Boost ‘Willing Coalition’

Rome: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed confidence that the United States would augment the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ supporting Kyiv and urged Washington to impose additional sanctions on Russia to expedite the end of the ongoing conflict.

According to Ansa News Agency, Zelensky thanked a U.S. delegation for participating in a call of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ during the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Rome. He specifically acknowledged President Trump’s contributions, stating, “Thank you President Trump, your signals are very important and we are counting on them.”

Zelensky emphasized the importance of strengthening the coalition, stating, “I am sure that in the future we will strengthen the coalition of the willing together, and this is important.” He highlighted that the joint efforts have already posed strategic challenges for Russia and praised the effectiveness of the sanctions imposed by the European Union. “Sanctions are working, thank you for all the EU packages,” he remarked.

The Ukrainian President called for similarly robust sanctions from the United States, expressing his belief that such measures would dim Russia’s prospects. “With these sanctions, I think Russia does not have a bright future,” he said. However, he acknowledged Russia’s continued capacity to sustain its military efforts, underscoring the necessity for increased pressure and enhanced defense measures.
