Zelensky and Meloni Discuss Utilization of Frozen Russian Assets
Brussels: Premier Giorgia Meloni met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the European Union summit to discuss strategies regarding the use of frozen Russian assets. The meeting, which took place on Thursday, highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Italy and Ukraine in response to the challenges posed by Russian aggression.
According to Ansa News Agency, Zelensky emphasized the importance of protecting Ukraine’s energy sector from Russian attacks, and recognized Italy’s expertise and resources in enhancing energy resilience. The discussions also covered joint defense projects under the Safe instrument, which aims to benefit all of Europe.
Zelensky underscored the significance of utilizing frozen Russian assets to support and defend Ukraine. These funds, he argued, should be directed towards initiatives that bolster the country’s security and stability in the face of ongoing threats.
