Youth Jubilee to Attract Half a Million, Say Rome Police

Rome: Around half a million people are expected to take part in next week’s Jubilee of Youth, one of the biggest events of the Catholic Church’s current Holy Year, Rome police said on Friday. The event starts on July 28 and will culminate with a huge outdoor Mass presided over by Pope Leo XIV in the Tor Vergata area of the Italian capital on Sunday, August 3.

According to Ansa News Agency, Rome Chief of Police Roberto Massucci emphasized the need for a comprehensive security plan considering the large number of attendees. “We are looking at the figure of 500,000 young people for the security plan,” Massucci stated, highlighting the importance of cooperation from the young people attending the event. He noted that their behavior would be fundamental to the success of the safety measures.

Massucci also revealed that an anti-drone system will be employed as part of the security efforts, underscoring the meticulous planning involved in ensuring the safety of the participants and the smooth running of the event. The Youth Jubilee is anticipated to be a significant gathering, drawing young people from various regions to participate in the celebrations and religious observance.
