Woman Arrested in Naples for Assaulting ER Doctor
Naples: A 41-year-old woman was arrested late on Saturday for assaulting a female doctor in the emergency room of Naples CTO hospital, sources said on Sunday. It is the latest of a long series of attacks on medical personnel, especially those working in casualty units, in Italy.
According to Ansa News Agency, the woman allegedly attacked the doctor as she was angered by the length of time her uncle was having to wait to be examined. The incident underscores the rising tensions and challenges faced by healthcare workers in emergency settings across the country.
Following the assault, the woman has been put under house arrest while three of her relatives have been reported to prosecutors over the disturbance at the hospital. The doctor suffered injuries that are expected to heal within five days, highlighting the physical risks medical staff endure in their line of duty.
